Since 1962, the Ilok Grape Harvest event has been organized in Ilok. It developed from an old Srijem tradition called ‘pudarina’, i.e. gathering of the locals at the beginning of the harvest to guard the vineyards, prepare for hard work, celebrate a successful vintage and harvest, and spend time together. The Voloder Autumn event begins when the first grape vines are cut in the Voloder vineyards. More precisely, the people of the County of Sisak-Moslavina have been marking the beginning of the grape harvest in their region for 41 consecutive years already. This year, the event will feature a rich exhibition of wine and must, as well as performances by numerous folklore ensembles from across Croatia. The truffles are considered a trademark of Istria, and the people of Istria express their gratitude for being blessed with such a gift by carefully guarding their traditional recipes for the preparation of truffles. The Days of Truffles in Istria (Sept. 6 – Nov. 30), opened and enriched by the Subotina event, which takes one back to the time and atmosphere in which the old people of Buzet used to live and work, is an event which gives the visitors an opportunity to learn about the richness of truffles and enjoy all possible delicious combinations in which they are prepared. The idea behind this event is to present the cultural, historic and gastro-oenological heritage of other Croatian and European cities in Split. The event includes concerts by a cappella vocal ensembles, performances by folklore ensembles and tamburitza orchestras, a wine exhibition, and preparation of authentic dishes specific to a particular town. Maraschino cherry is a traditional product of this region. People also say that Maraschino cherries are the most delicious cherries in the world! For the purpose of promoting authentic products from the Zadar region, the locals will prepare a Maraschino cherry strudel, and the visitors will also have an opportunity to taste other products made from this type of cherry, such as, of course, the maraschino liqueur, cherry brandy, sour cherry brandy, cherry juice, and other. The strudel will be 1200 meters long. The organizers of the event will apply for entry of the strudel in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest strudel in the world.
