The 2^nd Croatian Food & Wine Festival will be held on April 3-5, 2014 at Arena Zagreb and afford visitors a wonderful opportunity to taste regional specialities. The festival will present Croatia’s gastronomic and oenological legacy through four events: a presentation of food and wine destinations in the form of a cooking show, wine workshops, dessert workshops and the HoReCa program for caterers, hoteliers and food and wine producers. This year’s partner country is Italy. Visitors will be able to taste only premium delicacies: prosciutto, kulen, pasta dishes, honey, liqueurs, brandies, jams, seafood and fish products, dry-cured and smoked meat products, eco-products, baked goods, vegetarian and vegan products and halal foods. The international culinary festival called Pearl of the Sea (Biser mora) will be held for the ninth consecutive year on the island of Brač in the period from April 9 to 13. The festival is organized by the Association of Chefs from the Mediterranean and European Regions, and includes international culinary competitions between catering schools and professional chefs, as well as a state bartender competition. Apart from the mentioned chef competitions, this culinary festival also includes culinary exhibitions, oenology workshops, cooking shows, tastings, presentations of domestic and foreign cuisines, lectures, culinary tours and an entertainment program. The 2014 Dalmatia Wine Expo event will be held on April 24-25, 2014 at the Hotel Radisson Blu in Split and on May 1-2, 2014 in Kačičev Square in Makarska under the title Wine & Fun Days.This will be the fifth instalment of DWE and Dalmatia will again play host to prominent vintners and producers of premium food products and olive oil, as well as representatives of the finest hotels and restaurants. This year DWE will feature multiple interesting lectures and workshops led by wine experts and connoisseurs. The first regional wine festival called Dubrovnik FestiWine will be held at the Klarisa Restaurant in the period from April 24 to 26. The festival currently gathers 50 exhibitors which will present more than 150 labels. This is, however, not the final number of the participating winemakers since registration is possible until April 10. The main part of the festival is definitely the wine exhibition & tasting, while the festival also includes a wine competition called Dubrovnik FestiWine Trophy, oenology workshops called It's wine o'clock, a professional gathering called Wine in Tourism and the Dubrovnik Wine Week (Dubrovačka vinska setemana). The main purpose of the Festival is the repositioning of local wines in the overall tourist offer and giving wine back the status it deserves. The desire is to restore Dubrovnik's centuries-old status as a recognizable wine destination and a wine friendly city. Successful repositioning will require a lot of work and concerted effort by all entities involved in tourism. Hence, the event called Dubrovnik Wine Week (Dubrovačka vinska setemana) will be held during the week before the festival, April 22-27, in various Dubrovnik restaurants. Its purpose is to spread the wine mood across the City. During the Wine Week, the interested restaurants will prepare special offers of dishes and county wines under favorable prices. The participating restaurants will earn the recognizable Wine Friendly label.
