The 21st international exhibition of wine and winemaking equipment Vinistra 2014 will be held in Poreč, May 9th – 11th, 2014. (www.vinistra.hr).

URBANOVO is marking its fifteenth anniversary and continues to be one of the most important economic and tourism events in the northwest of Croatia. URBANOVO is a multifaceted event taking place every May, featuring three great opportunities for enjoyment: The Pušipel Festival (wine and winemaking equipment fair), Cellars’ Doors Open Days and the Feast Day of St. Urban and the celebratory Vintner Ball.
The main event is the 6th Pušipel Festival taking place May 16th – 18th, 2014 at the sports gymnasium in Štrigova. The festival is a regional fair of winemaking equipment already widely recognized as a great platform for wine culture and the promotion of our autochthonous Pušipel grape variety. For three days Urbanovo becomes a meeting place for vintners, producers of winemaking equipment, agricultural producers, entrepreneurs and artisans and and a place where business managers can learn about the latest trends in the production of wine and winemaking equipment. All participants, exhibitors and visitors are provided free Internet access and can attend multiple organized presentations, meetings, workshops and the gastro show, which are all great opportunities for the exchange and transfer of knowledge, technology and innovation.
Cellars’ Doors Open Days will be held May 23rd -24th, 2014. All Međimurje Wine Road visitors will be able to enjoy wine tastings at about 20 comfortable stands and taste the products of Međimurje’s vintners.
The Feast of St. Urban (the patron saint of wine) is celebrated on May 25th, 2014 when Mass is celebrated, followed be a wine feast featuring wine games and a rich cultural and entertainment programme.
Urbanovo traditionally ends with the annual Vintner Ball held at the Terbotz Curia. Prominent guests are served regional gastronomic and wine delicacies and the first bottle of last year’s Pušipel is opened in a festive and ceremonial manner. The honour is given to the best-graded varietal and every vintner takes great pride if his wine is selected to mark the beginning of the season in which consumers can enjoy the native wine of Međimurje (www.urbanovo.hr).

The first international Conference Taste the Mediterranean will be held in the old city of Šibenik, in Croatia, on 29 May - 1 June 2014. The Conference aims to promote the Mediterranean Diet, with an emphasis on its scientific, cultural and social values (www.tastethemediterranean.eu). Croatia has recently been included on UNESCO's representative list of countries that protect the Mediterranean Diet as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The Conference Taste the Mediterranean will consist of: scientific lectures by international and Croatian experts, panel discussions, specialized workshops, a Mediterranean market with the typical products on sale, cooking shows by great Mediterranean chefs, tastings, excursions on the field and entertainment programs.
The Križ festival of alternative desserts zagriziME is a brainchild of a group of professionals and fans of scrumptious desserts and health food and their way to show something new and different. The organizers were especially encouraged by the fact that the continental part of Croatia does not have a similar event that would attract exhibitors from Southeast Europe, which is what the organizers are planning to achieve in the future. At zagriziME visitors and dessert lovers will be able to taste delicious sweets made from unusual and healthy ingredients that are often talked about, but not always easily found. The main event is the street festival showcasing wonderful desserts, accompanied by a variety of attractive events. The programme is available on www.zagrizi.me.

Robert Prosinečki invites on Saturday, May 31st, at 12 p.m. all Zagreb residents to the Mojo Bar on Trg Burze for a Fundraising Event organized by Kutjevački podrum and Lions Club Kaptol. The Event will raise aid for flood-hit areas in Slavonia. Mladen Itrak, aboard member of Kutjevo d.d., stated: We invite all to help out in these difficult times. Kutjevo will donate wine and other products,while the citizens can, if they wish, make a money donation.
