For the 22^nd time in a row, Đakovački bušari, a local carnival, will this year once again revive the carnival tradition parading through the streets of Đakovo accompanied by song, dance and madness. The carnival features a Carnival Gastro Festival – Meatless and Meat Dishes Prepared in the Carnival and Lent Periods, and a Carnival Parade – the main carnival event. By the number of participants and visitors, Đakovački bušari make the largest carnival in eastern Croatia.

On January 29, 2016, the town of Samobor will once again become Fašnička Republika (Republic of Fašnik). Samobor will organize numerous carnival festivities, thus maintaining the centennial tradition of the event that has become quite popular in recent years. The 190^th consecutive Samoborski fašnik traditionally ends on Shrove Tuesday when Fašnik, Prince of Carnival, gets convicted and the Fašnik puppet is burned.
